CECIL'S CAFE: Home-Cooked Food Stop on Your Way to Tagaytay

Cecil's Cafe-32.jpg

I've always been curious about Cecil's Cafe. We pass by it every time we head to Tagaytay via Sta. Rosa. Although it looks homey and inviting from the outside, we hesitated for a while because we don't know if the food is yummy or if it is just one of those provincial commercialized cafes.

One weekday morning, we decided to try it for lunch. Here's our Cecil's Cafe experience:

Cecil's Cafe-3.jpg

We were welcomed by Cecil Inducil-Jacinto, who was excited to welcome guests to her quaint cafe and have people taste her home-cooked dishes and Green Patio's Chinese specialties.

(Note: Green Patio is the popular Chinese restaurant of Cecil's mother in Greenhills before.)

It's operated like a home kitchen, with food freshly prepared and cakes ready for you to indulge in.

The menu is simple: Home-cooked Food, Home-baked Desserts + Green Patio's Specialties.

Caesar's Salad - Organic (P160).

The salad is fresh with a very flavorful dressing -- just the way we like it at home.

★ Green Patio's Fresh Xiamen "Amoy" Lumpia (P65).

One of the specialties is the Fresh Amoy lumpia, which passed the discriminating taste of my Chinese wife (although I think it has more peanuts than usual). They can improve it by making it more compact.

It's actually already good by itself but you can add the sweet sauce to enjoy it.

Cecil's Cafe-12.jpg
★ Vegetable Lasagna (P165).

One of their specialties is the Lasagna -- very rich and yummy, considering that it's all vegetables.

Cecil's Cafe-19.jpg
Grilled Salmon in Honey-Coriander Glaze (P290).

They have rice meal options, too. The salmon we ordered was just OK.

Cecil's Cafe-23.jpg
Green Patio's Cua Pao (2pcs./order - P95).

Another specialty is the Cua Pao, served hot and steamed in a basket. It was good and served just the way the Chinese foodies like it -- with a thick layer of really soft fat.

★ Tootsie's Sans Rival (P85).

The sansrival was rich. Some people might find it too sweet and overly buttery, though.

Overall, Cecil's Cafe does deliver on its promise of home-cooked goodness. It's great that it also offers Chinese specialties from its Green Patio lineage. It's a quaint resto that you can stop over before or after going to Tagaytay, especially if you are in the mood for home cooking while near the Nuvali area.

P.S.  If you are going up to Tagaytay via Sta. Rosa, drive past the Nuvali area and the food stalls area along the road selling steamed corn. Once you see the road goes up, look for the commercial establishments on your right and you should see the Cecil's Cafe logo.

Wow! So excited to try this! I miss Green Patio!!

How did R find the sans rival? I want to know her feedback because she loves sans rival! Did it pass her high sans rival standards? : )

YES, but matamis lang ng kaunti.

Why do you always post photos of your wife at her most unflattering? :( She deserves better.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to learn how to take better portraits.
