14 FOUR CAFE by Niki Sambile: Taytay’s Secret Cafe

14 FOUR CAFE is a  furniture showroom that transforms into a cafe on weekends, secretly hidden in Taytay, Rizal.  Here’s a photo essay of our experience:

After Niki Sambile’s 2-year stint at Sel de la Terre in Boston, she decided to setup her dream cafe in their house in Taytay last Feb 2012.

The place is also the showcase for her father’s furniture company called Stick Designs.

The cafe serves a simple comfort food menu amidst a mixed furniture ambiance.

The place is small, so it is best to reserve either the tables near the window or the sofa chairs at the back.

Smoked Fish Pate (P130). Cream cheese, spices, tortilla chips.

They serve a free appetizer plate of nachos with spicy cream cheese with Tinapa pate flavor.

★ Cinnamon Bun Pancakes (P170). Cinnamon swirled pancakes, cream cheese icing syrup.

The best seller in the cafe. It’s a serving of 3 pcs. of thick pancake swirled with cinnamon and sugar topping served with rich cream cheese icing. (Deadly 🙂

14FourCafe-24.jpg
★ 14 Four Tapa (P190). Garlic rice, fried egg

The tapa was super sweet and tasted almost like a tocino tapa. The kids loved this 🙂

14FourCafe-28.jpg
★ Aligue & Tuyo Pasta (P230). Creamy aligue sauce, tuyo flakes, hint of citrus

This is a good Filipino inspired pasta using complimenting flavors of aligue sauce and the salty fish taste of the tuyo.

14FourCafe-26.jpg
Beer Braised Brisket (P340). Chorizo rice, Onion rings.

I don’t think this combination worked. We should have ordered their Osso Buco best seller instead.

After the meal, it’s nice to hangout in the outdoor dining area under the cool shade of the big tree.

I could imagine this place must be romantic at night as long as it does not rain.

★ Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cookie for dessert!

Don’t miss to order the dessert which changes depending on what Niki created for that day.

We were not disappointed driving all the way to discover this secret cafe. We love the simple carbo-rich comfort food and the artistic ambiance accented by the different furniture designs.

Best to go for Sunday Brunch or a romantic secret date at night 🙂 Budget P300-P500 per head.

Full Disclosure: I wrote this blog post myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I have no business relationship with any company mentioned in this post or any organization promoting it. As a policy, I don’t accept advertising from food and travel places we feature in the blog. We paid for our meals.

P.S. It’s a bit traffic going here via the Ortigas Extension road. You have to pass the Ever Gotesco, Robinson’s, and the Cainta Junction area. You can’t miss the small Rodriguez Street once you see Shakey’s, BPI Family Bank, and Tropical hut.

After turning into Rodriguez St., turn left on the second street and you should be able to see Ilang Ilang St. sign.  Turn right on the first corner (with no Pascual Street sign) and turn left on the first street (Magnolia St.). You should see 14 Four Cafe immediately on your left.

P.P.S. check out the restroom design 🙂

  1. Hi, how are you? Thanks Anton for posting this restaurant. Parang namasyal ako nito although I am now in Newark, California. There are many places to visit in Rizal also (my father’s province and his family). I know some of the people in Philippines are concentrating in Metro Manila only. They didn’t know that there are many exotic places to visit in provinces. To tell you honestly that Filipinos are also very talented in cooking. As a matter of fact that there are some chefs in The White House that are Filipinos. They are already featured at TFC (The Filipino Channel). I love to eat, too but I have to maintain my blood sugar and cholesterol. This area is also a good place for a vacation also.

  2. Been to 14Four. Loved the place. Sooo interesting! Real good comfort food. Try the fried chicken. Good eats!

  3. I live in Antipolo and there is no place from Cainta to Antipolo for a decent not fastfood meal in a non-mall setting. Nice to hear that there is a place like 14 Four that we can go to this part of town. I’ve heard of this restaurant already from other people and now that you have confirmed and approved of it we will try the place.
