We just love Chinese food. :) One of the advantages of marrying into a Chinese family is getting to always enjoy a Chinese lauriat celebration every time there is a birthday or special event.

We celebrated Ahiya Pierre's 41st birthday in one of the best Chinese seafood restaurants along Escolta -- Uno Seafood Wharf Palace. I was happy to learn that it is owned by the same people behind our favorite comfort Chinese restaurant, Lutong Macao, along Jupiter St.

The Lauriat Set Menu starts from P4,800 to P9,900 with 9 to 11 courses (including dessert). But we preferred to order the dishes on an ala carte basis, served lauriat-style.

UNO Seafood Wharf Palace has two floors with a capacity of 22 tables (x 12/table) on the first floor and 27 tables (x 12/table) on the second floor.

They serve fresh seafood direct from their aquarium.

Drink All You Can (D.A.U.C.) - P700 per table

Interestingly, they serve drink-all-you-can iced tea, mineral water, and Pepsi sodas for only P700 per table. :)  Don't drink the soda immediately, though, if you don't want to ruin your appetite for the yummy food ahead.

★ Birthday Noodles (Large - P480)

The lauriat started with Birthday Noodles--this dish was a hit among the kids. Although I'm not too fond of this type of noodles, I liked Uno's version, which was not too salty or oily, and had a lot of flavor in the noodles. Sarap!

Fish Lip Soup (Large - P600)

The Fish Lip Soup was a nice substitute for shark's fin, and it tasted good when mixed with the black vinegar.

★ Yang Chow Fried Rice (Large - P400)

The Yang Chow looked really yummy, and the large serving was good enough for 12 people. I enjoyed the balance of flavors in the rice with its chunks of shrimps and meat.

★ Assorted Cold Cuts (Large - P640)

We loved the seaweed and century eggs. My father-in-law even commented that the kikiam was similar to the ones made by Ama, which says a lot about how good the food was.

Sizzling Beef Tenderloin (2 small - P800)

The beef was really soft, but the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. I loved eating the onion slices to temper the sweetness.

Two thumbs up for our waiter, Mr. Eduard S.! He was very cheerful while serving us. You can request to have him as your waiter when you dine in for your special celebration.

★ Fried Crispy Pigeon (3pcs. - P1,020)

After all these years, I'm still not fond of eating crispy pigeon. Rache loved it because it was soft, not rubbery, and it did not have that malansa taste.

The boys were amazed at the fresh seafood aquarium display.

King Fish was abundant in the aquarium.

★ Steamed King Fish with Soy Sauce (1 Kilo - 2 pcs. - P600)

It's a good alternative for the usual Lapu-Lapu. We love our fish steamed and served with soy sauce.

★ Steamed Crab Garlic (1.5kg 3 pcs. - P1,500)

The crabs were equally good with fat crab claws. Even though the garlic flavor was a bit subtle, nothing beats the taste of freshly steamed crabs! :)

I was impressed with the loud, energetic birthday song tribute of the staff for the birthday celebrant. You could hear it throughout the restaurant. :)

Happy Birthday, Ahiya Pierre!

Mango Sago with Almond Bits (P45/cup, P80/glass)

The only thing I did not like about the lauriat was the mango sago. It seemed diluted and lacked in flavor. :(

★ Peanut Rolls - Masachi (P18/pc.)

The Masachi was a better sweet ending to the lauriat. It had just the right sweet and peanut-y taste.

We celebrated with two tables of around 12 persons. The lauriat cost us about P6,750/table, which already included the drink-all-you-can.

Not bad for approx. P562.50 per person for a really good Chinese meal with unlimited drinks. :)

Highly recommended for fresh seafood dishes, for birthday lauriats, and for discriminating Chinese taste buds. :)
