A SLICE of Pia Cayetano
One of the new concept restaurants in Bonifacio High Street Central is SLICE, the latest baby of Senator Pia Cayetano. If Sonja's Cupcake bakery ambiance and Cafe Mary Grace's homey feel-good food had an offspring with a focus on healthy and natural products, this would be it. :)
Aidan wanted to eat late at night to try a new restaurant, so we decided to try SLICE, which was on soft-opening, for our all-boys night out...
Bonifacio High Street Central Restaurants:
- Jamba Juice Opens in Manila!
- SutrA Christmas Dinner: Our First Taste of BHS Central
- ARIA Mania in Manila?
- GEISHA, an Indian-owned Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant You'll Love :)
- ELIAS and the Spirants
- Mango Tree: Finally, Thai Fine Dining in Manila!
- A Beso Cucina Vinoteka Date
- The Cake Club Dessert Haven
- A SLICE of Pia Cayetano
- SARIWON, Authentic Korean Barbecue - First Branch outside Korea
- Village Tavern, a Higher-End Friday's?
- STELLA, Sister of Chelsea & the Star of BHS Central
- 'CUE, Modern Barbecue
- NOLITA (North of Little Italy): A Taste of the Real New York Pizza in Manila?
- BHS Central: A Guide to the BEST Eats in Bonifacio High Street Central

SLICE has a welcoming, bright and cheery ambiance that is conducive to family bonding time. It also has a nice private function room that can be reserved for small events and gatherings, like a baby shower.
It perfectly complements the Jamba Juice store beside it.

The place has a "modern American bakery" vibe inspired by Pia Cayetano's travels and her childhood days growing up in the US.
They have a limited menu (Slice High St. Opening Menu) and are still in the process of preparing the family Filipino recipes to be served in the restaurant.

This sums up the SLICE concept, written by Senator Pia Cayetano:
"Slice is where dessert comes first, breakfast is served all day, healthy alternatives are always recommended, and where we enjoy life one slooow bite and slice at a time."

We love it because it is a kid-friendly venue; the boys had a great time coloring the activity sheets. Hope they introduce interactive toys soon to keep the kids entertained! :)

★ Thick Tomato (P120 +10% service charge). Puree of fresh tomatoes infused with cream.
It was raining last Saturday night, so this freshly made hot soup was really comforting. I thoroughly enjoyed the full flavor of the soup and its thick consistency.

★ Cream of Carrot (P120 +10% service charge). Puree of fresh carrots mixed with aromatic herbs and cream.
Aidan preferred the Cream of Carrot, which I found equally good. For those times when you just want to have dinner with really good soup, then this is the place to be. :)

★ Brown Arroz Caldo (P150 +10% service charge). Chicken breast chunks with brown rice infused with ginger and turmeric. A traditional Filipino favorite. Choice of either chicken breast or egg.
I love their healthy version of the Arroz Caldo. :) It had a very thick consistency because of the brown rice and malagkit (sticky rice) mix. It was quite flavorful with its generous serving of egg, chicken, and garlic bits.

★ Seafood Puttanesca (P380 +10% service charge). Salmon and shrimp in lightly creamed puttanesca sauce in linguine pasta.
The Seafood Puttanesca was good to share and had a yummy, creamy sauce with good chunks of salmon, shrimp, and cheese. It's one of those pasta dishes that make you feel good after eating it.

SLICE High Street Menu: Muffins, Cupcakes, Cookies, Pies and Cakes, Granola and Brownies
Here, you can have delicious food and end with a yummy dessert, which a lot of restaurants tend to overlook or forget.
They are best known for their chocolate cupcake with yema on top. This one never fails to put a smile on anyone's face. :) Ang sarap nga! I hope they make a bigger cake version of it.

Before the restaurant opened, they had a stall serving muffins right beside Jamba Juice. I thought it would just sell baked goods, but I'm glad that they also serve hot, healthy dishes.
The best seller is the Citrus Burst Muffin. It is best eaten when it is freshly prepared in the resto.

Granola Light (P225 - 250g), and Granola Original (P225- 250g).
They make their own granola -- perfect for breakfast! :)

★ Banana Pudding (Lite -P90, Regular - P150).
We also got to taste their own version of the Banana Pudding, which the boys liked. :)

It was great to eat here, especially on its soft opening. We even met Senator Pia Cayetano herself :) Her personality is manifested in every tiny details of the restaurant.
Overall, we love the family-friendly feel and healthy focus of the restaurant. Probably, the only unhealthy item in the menu is the New York Cheescake (P270).
The boys loved all the items we ordered -- the soup, arroz caldo, pasta, muffin, cupcakes and dessert -- which is quite rare. This is one of those places where you can be assured of a really good healthy meal, with a really good dessert. Jamba Juice complements it very well. Try it! :)

Oh so it's finally open :D ! I always wondered why a kiosk stood beside Jamba Juice and wasn't using the space beside it.
Looks like the whole new High Street Complex will keep foodies busy for a good amount of time, trying out each and every resto :)

Hi Sir Anton! I'm Anne. I was one of the attendees of your seminar last july 13 at Studio SnR. I really learned a lot from your lectures. Thanks to you, I'm gaining "real" audience and not the "contest mob". hehe. I'm slowly transforming my blog and hopefully be able to become a "real" blogger like you. :)
Anyway, I've seen Slice at Kris TV this week, all of their food seems so yummy!!! My boyfriend will have his birthday this August and I still don't know where to bring him for a "surprise" dinner date. What restaurants can you suggest? I only have a limited budget. but i really want to surprise him to a different restaurant that will make him really kilig to the bones. haha! Hope you could help me. :)
Thanks a lot! Hope to see and talk to you again! :)
xx Anne

Regular restaurants identlfy their HEALTHY selections thru symbols. It is my professional opinion that establishments advertising themselves to be healthy should be more diligent in identifying all the items in their menu that are not-so-healthy. SO MANY ITEMS WERE NOT HEALTHY. The "health halo" will have the tendency of leading diners to underestimate the sugar, fat, and calories of everything they eat there. Studies show that this health halo make people gobble up 45% more calories than they think. They really ought to do better in informing their customers
