Buona Vita Ristorante Italiano

Buona Vita is probably the only restaurant worth visiting along the Daang Hari area. This is the alternative road that connects Alabang to Tagaytay. It is located across the Verdana community in Daang Hari and probably the best Italian restaurant in that part of town.

We love their pizzas and the unique gelato flavor! As for the pasta, we tried the ravioli and it was obvious that it was prepared beforehand and reheated. The Ravioli place in the Robinson's Galleria food court is much better because it is made fresh on the day itself.

I was expecting the prices to be more affordable but it was priced like any Manila restaurant (and in some cases, more expensive, like for their Chef's specials).

Buona Vita's ambiance is like that of a small neighborhood restaurant where the locals hang out. It has the feel of a typical Italian restaurant.

The meal starts with a complimentary basket of assorted bread with tomato and pesto sauces.

Buono Vita-19
Minestrone di Verdure Fresche
(P150 +12% VAT +10% SC).
Fresh Vegetable Soup

The soup was forgettable. I remember that we did not finish it though because it had a "reheated" taste.

Buono Vita-21
Ai 5 Formaggi
(P400
+12% VAT +10% SC). Mozzarella, Parmesan, Pecorino, Fontina and Gorgonzola Cheese.

The 5-cheese pizza was awesome! I think the Pecorino and Fontina made a lot of difference in the taste. The crust was thin and crisp. This is definitely the best pizza place in this part of town. :) Good job!

Buono Vita-26
Ravioli Tartufo
(P550
+12% VAT +10% SC). Homemade pasta stuffed with Mushroom and Black Truffle.

The black truffle sauce was just OK, but the ravioli had stuffed mushroom that tasted mushy and bland. I don't mind paying top price for pasta, but please serve it fresh and make it worth every peso.

I'm sure if this was prepared fresh, it would have been awesome. We went there on a weekday lunch en route to Tagaytay, but I guess we were not lucky.

 Buono Vita-29
Gelato con Basilico
(P160
+12% VAT +10% SC).

We loved this basil-flavored gelato. I've never seen this flavor anywhere else. It was refreshing to have this for dessert. However, for the price, I think they should make the serving a little bigger.

Buono Vita-30
Gelato con Olio
(P160
+12% VAT +10% SC).

The Olive Oil Gelato with Chocolate Balsamic Syrup was also quite interesting. It works too, but you have to get used to the aftertaste of the oil.

Buono Vita-32
Gelato Ferrero
(P160
+12% VAT +10% SC).

We were addicted to the gelato and had to order another one. We should have stopped at the Basil and Olive Oil-flavored ones because the Gelato Ferrero was just ordinary chocolate gelato -- nothing to rave about.

I would not recommend driving all the way there just to try it but it is the best choice when passing by the Daang Hari area.

If you find yourself in the vicinity, try their pizzas and gelato and let me know what you think. :)

P.S. I don't like it when restaurants do not include the 12% VAT in their menu prices because it is very deceiving. Di ba may law na mandates restaurant to include the VAT in the menu price? oh well...

I think may law nga nadapat kasama na sa price yung tax, pero sa goods yun, not sure for restos...

Pssst! Ang hirap naman mag comment now dito... need to sign in pa :)

Parang ang weird nung gelato con olio.. hehe. I'm still curious about the gelato ferrero though. :D As for the tax issue, marami pa rin ata gumagawa ng ganon, there's still no law for restaurants I think.
