The Little Mermaids of Manila Ocean Park
We were pleasantly surprised to see the Little Mermaid Show at Manila Ocean Park. I'm now curious to know who these mermaids are. They made performing underwater with oxygen look easy. They were always smiling throughout the show -- and they sure can last long underwater. The staff said that they are part of the RP swimming team... (Can anybody confirm this?)
The show starts with the individual performance of each of the mermaids and ends with some synchronized swimming. It is free for Oceanarium visitors and for every P150 receipt of food or non-food items bought at any Manila Ocean Park Store.

Before the show starts, the kids have a chance to enjoy the aquarium full of fishes, stingrays and sharks. The kids are already happy seeing the fishes -- you don't even have to enter the Oceanarium.
The show begins with the solo smiling performance of the green, blue, red, and purple mermaids.
The Red Mermaid is the most graceful one of them all...

We also like the Green Mermaid... (of course :) )

As part of the encore performance, the mermaids join together for a group hug and a final goodbye.

After the show, the mermaids usually pose for the cameras.
To finally end the show, a siokoy appears in a diving suit to ruin the mermaids' swimming party...

Mondays - No Show
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm
Thursday- 5pm, 6pm
Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays - 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm

They are part of the RP synchronized swimming team. :) Manila Ocean park if doing this to encourage folks to support the RP synchronized swimming team.

despite my fascination with the animated movie and the musical, the first photo sorta freaked me out! LoL
So, for a free show, a person have to both pay admission PLUS buy P150 worth of stuff from the park shops? So, for 5 people entering, we pay admission cost plus P750 worth of food or non-food items?
Clicked the link just now... if i understand it correctly, we can just pay P150 to just watch the show, right? No need for a separate entrance fee, if we're not going to go through the entire aquarium?
Brought our 3 year old niece there a few months ago before there were any shows... dunno if she'll want to go back... the "underwater tunnel" aquarium sorta scared her.

No, if you pay for the admissions to the Oceanarium, the show is free. Alternatively, you are correct you can pay for P150 per head for the show. But instead of just paying it, you can use it to eat merienda or dinner instead :)

The mermaids that perform at the Manila Ocean Park are members of the Philippine Synchronized Swimming Team....They competed last December '08 in Seremban , Malaysia and brought home two bronze medals (the blue and pink mermaid ) and in Thailand last July '07 bronze medal ( red mermaid )......

my children loved the ocean park but it's actually quite dangerous. the railings are totally not child-proof.

the oceanarium website says the show on thursdays is at 10am and 2pm. wonder if you're more accurate? lol:-)

Di ko na experienced to the last time I visited Manila Ocean Park.
Just wond'ring how long sila nagstay underwater without breathing:P? or they have breathing apparatus but not visible in the picture?
