OAP Winners! Congratulations :)
Who Wants To Be The Next Spelling Bee Contestant? (P3,100+ Worth of Tickets and Priceless Guest Speller Spot!)
*clears throat and tentatively taps standing stage mike*
Is this on? What? It is? What's that now? Oh I'm on, ok.
*ehem*
I think I would make a GREAT spelling be contestant not only because I can spell DYSLEXIA with only two letters (M - E), but more importantly, I believe in World Peace.
And have no objection to full frontal nudity. Wait, what?
I. Thank. You.
*bow
Many moons ago, back when i was in grade 4, I was a contestant in our school's Spellers' Q.
The competition was about to end. There were only 2 of us left battling for the top prize.
My name was called. The Quizmaster said: Your word is . . . and she went on to say "ROE-DY"
"ROE-DY?" I quickly scanned my memory bank. Mmmm...Ano iyun? Ma-daan? Parang daan? Wala yatang ganun?
Bewildered and resigned to my fate, I just did the next best thing and guessed the word based on how she pronounced it.
"ROE-DY", R-O-A-D-Y, "ROE-DY"
Of course, the Quizmaster said: I'm sorry but your spelling is wrong. The correct spelling is R-O-W-D-Y.
What the ?@?###!!!
I lost because she couldn't pronounce the word correctly.
So to answer the question why should i be the next spelling bee contestant: For JUSTICE. For REDEMPTION. :)
3rd Prize. Marj won 1 ticket to the July 4, Spelling Bee! (Also in case the any of the first two cannot make it)
At 25, I've decided to go back schooling and pursue a degree in one of the prestigious universities somewhere in Q.C. I reckon that i would still need to take an exam for admission and since it's known to be one of the hardest entrance exams known to students (to highschool students, that is) i enrolled in a review class.. yep. in a college entrance exam review class.. and much to my embarrassment, the secretary/receptionist ask me:
"Saan ang school ng anak mo? o ano ba yan kapatid mo?" Honor student ba sha?" =/
I've never been so humiliated and embarrass of my age until that day. I would've wanted to cry and storm out of the office, but i want this. Painfully, excruciatingly and agonizingly need it. So i went through with the review along with all the other young and giggly HS students. Notwithstanding the degradation. All shame in my body be damned. (Napagkamalan pa nga akong Prof at one point...!)
So i just need any semblance of a victory (tleast not until the results are out Ü), and that hopefully thru this entry, may it bequeath a glimmer of hope that Luck, no matter how elusive, is still on my side. Ü
So Anton, Please make me..
THE NEXT SPELLING BEE CONTESTANT.Ü
I promise i'll make you proud ♥
