3 Things I learned on My First Day in AIM

By

This week is very significant for me in my blogging/ internet marketing career. It is my first time to teach in the Internet Marketing elective in the AIM MBA class and the first day of Maven Secrets.

Here are the 3 Things I learned on My First Day in AIM:

1. I’m now a professor
I felt old at the same time honored. The label of  “professor” or “guru”, I think needs to be earned and since I’m just starting, I’m here to prove that I’m worthy of the title. I like to be Professor X of the X-Men who nurture young people to enhance their  natural capabilities.  (Not the stereotyped image of an old power tripping professor)

2. I’m living the 4-hours work week?
Ever since I read the book, “The 4 Hour Work Week” by Timothy Ferris, I believe subconsciously I was aspiring for his kind of lifestyle.  He was a “popular guest lecturer in Princeton University where he presents entrepreneurship as a tool for ideal lifestyle design and world change” (see about Tim Ferris ). Now, I’m an adjunct professor in Asian Institute of Management empowering people with the right mindsets to win in the Internet so that they can live an awesome life in the Philippines. I’m still far from the 4-hours work week but at least I have 3-day weekends every single week 🙂

3. I felt I’m back working for a multinational company again.
Aside from the obvious different nationalities around the campus dominated by Indians, you can feel the air of Excellence and Leadership along the halls of AIM. You can smell the sense of pride and the I-can-conquer-the-world feeling. With its heritage of being the Best Management School in Asia, the environment is energizing and challenging for you to exceed your best. Just like the environment we had in P&G before with less than 25% of the stress levels…

I feel whole now because one of the things that I miss in P&G is coaching young people. In fact, I was awarded with a Regional IT Coach of the Year award before I left. I cherish that award until today.

So now, I can truly say — I love to eat, travel, and coach.

Live an Awesome Life,

  1. Prof Anton… sounds pretty good. I am sure you will do well for as long as you are sincere in your desire in helping others to succeed. You have the knowledge and the experience, so it should be – piece of cake!

  2. wow Prof Anton Diaz it has a good ring to it! i wish i can take a class with you and learn more. Too bad i’m busy with my 1 year old son following him around. More Power!

  3. Other than my profession, my career now revolves in teaching too. I can relate to you because I also teach in the academe and review centers for five years now and I can say that it has been my second skin and I so like it because of three positive things I can do while doing the part : INSPIRE, MOTIVATE, ASPIRE.
Best of luck and more power to you Anton.

  4. I was there; and I also did learn much, like:
    1) the internet, blogging in particular, empowers even the littlest and simplest of folks to be heard and seen and known;
2)I love learning and I love school — First days are the most exciting! — brings much of your youth back. Yes, I guess I am a “forever student”
3)the links in the internet do link people. No matter how far they are apart physically, and no matter how different they are in most aspects of life; people of common interests or passions or advocacies can find each other; link up and form a community online.
I look forward to more learning from the master.
