Our Awesome Planet supports Earth Hour 2009

Earth Hour 2008-7

Our Awesome Planet Supports WWF's Earth Hour 2009 in the Philippines! We are committed to the lights out campaign this coming March 28, 2009, Saturday 8.30-9.30pm.

We will be coming off from our Ultimate Pampanga Tour during this time. I'm actually looking for restaurants who would continue to operate in a lights-out fashion or a candlelight dinner gimmick. Let me know if you have suggestions on where to spend Earth Hour 2009....

Charlie's by Rob Goco, Hidden behind a Car Wash Station

Charlie's Grind & Grill-20

Charlie's Grind & Grill by Chef Rob Goco (of Cyma fame) and partners is probably the Best Burger place, pound for pound, in Manila! It serves the best black angus burger for only P150 and cheese steak for P220 with no service charge at all. The best part is you can have your car washed for P100 while you eat.

Bellini: The After-Dinner Hangout in Cebu

Bellinni's-14

After dinner in Abaca, we were debating on where to hang out in Cebu on a Friday night. Most of the cafes closed early and we wanted to lounge in a place that is uniquely Cebuano with a good line-up of desserts. We found our answer in Bellini!

Bellini is a chill-out and dessert bar with live acoustic music. It is located in Lahug, overlooking Nivel Hills. It has the same owner as Anzani New Mediterranean restaurant. It is the latest high-end, fine dining establishment in Cebu.

Abaca Restaurant, Cebu

Abaca Resort-10

Some say, Jason Hyatt's Abaca is one of the best restaurants and boutique hotels in Cebu. Abaca is famous for its flat bread pizzas and steaks. The place is named after the indigenous material abaca, which is predominantly used around the resort.

I first heard about Abaca from Jason Magbanua, who was raving about it as one of the best wedding destinations he has ever filmed. Some Cebuanos would often go to Abaca just for the flat bread pizza and eat it with a view of the awesome sunset.

Is Abaca really the Best Gourmet Restaurant in Cebu?

Edge Coaster-rific!

Edge Coaster-32

Edge Coaster is the first coaster in the world where you can literally look down at the edge of the building you're on. In this case, it's the Crown Regency -- the tallest building in Cebu.

We visited Moal Boal over the weekend, and a side trip to the Edge Coaster was one of the highlights of our trip. :) Check out the Photo Essay of our Edge Coaster experience...

The Establishment

The Establishment

The Establishment is taking the restaurant experience to a whole new "wow" level in Manila with Anton San Diego, Editor-in-Chief of Philippine Tatler, as the President of the Establishment.

It is a restaurant complex composed of four restaurants: The Tulipan Spanish Bar (with Tulip as the icon), The Hall Spanish Tapas Restaurant (with Branches as the icon), The Crystal Room French Fine Dining (with Mirror as the icon), and the Oriental Chinese Restaurant (with Chair as the icon). If you look closely at the logo, it is a collage of the tulip, branches, mirror and chair icons.

Ying Ying, the new "President" in Binondo

Ying Ying Restaurant-12

Until now, I can't believe that the President Restaurant in Binondo closed down. It was a foodie institution and President was THE Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. The rumor in the foodie community is that the head chef of President transferred to Ying Ying Tea House Restaurant. (Can anybody confirm this?) Ying Ying Restaurant is now becoming the new "President" in Binondo.
