Where to Travel on a Rainy Day and Why? a Pluey's Blog Contest
I love traveling during the rainy season because of the off peak rates and the lesser crowd in the different tourist destinations in the Philippines. For today's blog contest Friday, I am interested to know: Where is your favorite place to travel on a rainy day and Why? You can write your answer (maximum of 100 words) in the comment section below or link your blog post with photos (a plus!).
The best answer will win one Pluey and you can choose from the Pluey's 2008 collection. 10 runner-ups will be chosen and will be given a 10% discount to Plueys (with January 31, 2009 expiry date).
Deadline for submission of entries is on October 30, 2008, Thursday. I will announce the winner next Friday in time for the next blog contest Friday :)

I'd go to Texas and join a Tornado or Storm Chasing Tour. It would be exciting to run around with storm chasers and maybe sing Josh Bernstein's part - I LOVE TORNADOES! - in the Boom De Ya Da song! I've always been a lover of extreme weather that's why Plueys is just perfect for me!

Either hurry along the small streets behind Baguio's central market or strolling among the woods in Camp John Hay. There's just something charming about those places. The relative obscurity and being one with the masses in the former and the tranquility in the latter.

Beach... BORACAY! haha we went there last rainy season. . Airfares and hotels are soo cheap. Our hotel rate was only P2,750.00/pax for 4days and 3nights! WOW! waves are wild.. Foreigners are flying with their boards in wind surfing.. looks fun - but too afraid to try it. We're thinking of going to Palawan next year. Maybe we can get cheap rates too.. ninununinu. :D

When it rains it pours, rainy season makes the rapids go wild. White water rafting is best done this time of the year. I've gone white water rafting in Cagayan de Oro and Davao, next rainy season, hopefully I'm off to Chico River, Cagayan Valley. With pluey in tow, why not! :)

On a rainy day, it's best to walk the streets of New York. The yellow cab and the subway are not necessary for all you need is your feet cause in the Big Apple, you've got to walk to experience it. With a black umbrella on one hand and a pair of Plueys on my feet, I can definitely get by walking all day, without sacrificing fashion, of course.

sigh.. i love rain.. what better way to spend the rainy season? to be back home and play chase with my dogs while the rain falls or simply sit by the window watching the rain with a warm soup prepared by my sweet mom.

It was a cold November night in Galera. I went out from our cottage and this guyfriend that I'm secretly crushing on was there. He asked me if I wanted to go to the beach. It was already drizzling, but what the heck? We walked, and after some paligoy-ligoy he asked me if he can court me! I know it's cheezy. It rained after a few minutes, and we ran trying not to get wet. I know he's pissed off because he wanted to have more time with me on the beach, but guess what, I felt the same way, too

During rainy days, I love going to the Katipunan area. Besides being a cheap and nearer alternative to an expensive out-of-town escapade, the Ateneo - UP area offers so many hole-in-the-wall places food junkies (like me!) will surely love. Also, there are so many activities people of all ages could enjoy, be it dancing in the rain at the U.P. Sunken Garden or marvel at the art pieces at the Ateneo Art Gallery. Complete your QC experience with a dinner at the Chocolate Kiss Cafe at U.P. Diliman. Truly, heaven smack in the middle of the City!

On a rainy day - specially when there was a raging typhoon, what better place to go to but strut your stuff in the MALL!
Years ago, my cousins and I used to go to Glorietta 4 wearing the latest rain gear that we had bought months ago. That time, there were no funky Plueys yet. My cousin's wife Nympha would probably be in one, had those been available. Dress to kill ?? Those sure will complete the look.

The streets of Manila are beautiful after the rain. The dirt and grime are washed from the walls and garbage is swept away by the waters from the streets. The pollution is stripped from the air, and you can see farther into the distance. The trees and plants lining the roads, perenially choked with dust, look fresh and alive. After the rain, Manila is almost the city of promise that my dad used to talk about. I walk around our streets with new eyes and have reason to hope that things will get better.

The best travel experience we had that was during a rainy day was when we went to the Chocolate Hills in Bohol back in July 2001. The hills were nothing like what we usually see in photographs. No drab chocolate there at all. In the rain that day, the hills were all in resplendent green. There was a hazy mist overhanging the horizon. It was a most unforgettable sight. Since there was no deluge of tourists to disturb our commune with nature, the whole experience was ethereal, mystic and beautiful indeed. Everyone should give it a try.

Pagudpud for me. Went there last february. It was a chilly week but the rain made the walking and touring bearable. i love being in the beach when it's raining. it's like a certain calm surrounds me everytime, where all that matters is the "here and now".

Would you believe Bonifacio High Street and Serendra? The people there practically disappear, or don't appear at all when it rains. I get to try out popular restaurants which usually require reserving ridiculously ahead of time (Mamou, anyone?) without any hassle when it rains. I can just walk up there and go in the door... since few people are crazy enough to brave the storm for a meal. It's just perfect for my gastronomic adventures... yummy!!!

a rainy day travel to our province in lopez, quezon. i just love sitting on the window side of a bus while it is raining outside, watching the fields go by, the people, and the houses. there is a certain sweet smell of palay and grass fields that takes me home and brings back childhood memories on a rainy day like this.

The best place to go on a rainy day is at Camp John Hay in Bagiuo where you can walk in the rain and enjoy the lushness of the plants and trees. The rain brings out the beauty of nature and I notice that it makes the trees even greener. It seems that everything looks nice and fresh when it is raining. After, its nice to make yourself warm and comfortable at Starbucks (John Hay branch of course!)and read a good book.

There's something about the smell of the rain with sweat, burning candles, and dried fish that makes Quiapo a great place to explore on a rainy day. Its usually exotic and colorful, but when it rains, there's a hush that makes the place even more electric. You walk along alleys filled with herbs, fish, vegetables, toys, clothes—everything under the sun. Rain only clears the way of people. Quiapo is fun, mysterious, dirty, smelly, alive, exciting, and always buzzing with life. Tucked in a corner with sago and banana-que in hand, what better place to feel happy and alive?

I'll go to Boracay, walking and playing on the white beach with my husband and son, wearing Plueys boots. We love the rainy season in Boracay because we can have the beach all to ourselves, less crowded, more places to explore...we even have the restaurants all to ourselves. Wearing the boots will give us an edge to the other fashionistas strolling the beach.

Tagaytay is one of the best places to travel on a rainy day...why? Aside from it’s proximity to Manila, Tagatay is one place that could offer both indoor and outdoor activities during rainy season. You can choose to book for a luxury hotel or homey villas, and enjoy a relaxing massage, a spa or any of its kind. Well, certainly I would enjoy sleeping –-that laid-back experience being away from the city, the foggy surroundings, the smell of green grass, the coffee experience and what else, the "tasty bulalo" which served mostly in Tagaytay.

Rainy days are best for food trips across town, or maybe even all over town; because restaurants are, more often than not, quite empty. People are just too lazy to get out with the cozy hide-under-the-covers-weather.
You get aboard the LRT 2 to Chinatown for a steaming hot bowl of Hand-pulled noodles in Lan Zhou La Mien. Then head off to your favorite coffeeshop to finish off your meal with a mug of rich, thick hot chocolate and cake.
Rainy day food trips are made even better if you get to share the warmth with that special someone.

during rainy days,there is only one destination in my mind: i would stroll with my cousins around our greenery-filled village to take in the rain-drenched scenery. that way, i feel the energy and marvel of every single drop of rain. our walk is accomplished in peace as the streets are nearly deserted and everything is wet and clean. it feels as if we're the only people in the world as it was when God created it. in the rain we can see the beauty in our own backyard, even in a simple rain-washed bench or streetlamp.

It's fun to be at the beach on a rainy day! I've tried it before with my family and friends (not on purpose) and we had a lot of fun in the water.

I love to go to Baguio/Tagaytay during rainy seasons as there is something kind of special walking in the rain with a friend under one umbrella, finding ways to amuse ourselves. These are rare moments when you just stay in...could be in a coffee shop or a restaurant where it's cozy and warm, do things which we overlook on a sunny day like take the time to read and finish a book in one sitting or just simply keep tab on each other's lives.
