The highlight of the Ilog Maria Tour is the honey tasting straight from the honey bee comb. (I heard Paul Calvin tried to do this kind of honey tasting in their restaurant)

At first it was scary because you don’t know how clean the bee hive is.

But once you tasted it, you’ll swear that it is the sweetest honey you ever tasted.

The best part of the trip is shopping from the Ilog Maria Store. My wife would often have pabilins to buy from Ilog Maria.

It is also interesting to read on how Ilog Maria Store started . Here is a catalog of the Ilog Maria Products.

” Ilog Maria Honey Cider Vinegar is best for removing wastes & toxins from your body and improving digestion & bowel movement. Together with this inner cleansing action, Ilog Maria Honey Cider Vinegar changes your body’s chemical reaction from acid to alkaline in reaction. This triggers a host of beneficial co-reactions in your body. Wastes in our bodies precipitate as salts. Many times, these salt deposits are so large they cannot be expelled or excreted by normal body processes. These salts or “stones” only start to melt when we are able to change our body’s chemical reactions to alkaline by regularly drinking 1 tablespoonful of Ilog Maria Honey Cider Vinegar in a glassful of water every morning before breakfast. Because of these and many other beneficial body reactions, regular use of Ilog Maria Honey Cider Vinegar helps lower uric acid, cholesterol and blood sugar & arthritis (especially when taken together with Ilog MariaBee Propolis. Ilog Maria Honey Cider Vinegar also helps ease migraine headaches, melt gallstones, lower hypertension and melt kidney & bladder stones. ” (see The Farm – Fresh from the Bee Hive)

We love the natural soaps particularly the oatmeal and spearmint. I like the coarseness of the oatmeal and the minty cooling effect after using it.

We often use the sore throat spray with Bee Propolis at the first signs of itchiness of the throat due to coughs/ colds.

” Ilog Maria Bee Propolis is nature’s most powerful probiotic. Propolis is an essential part of the immune system of trees. It is a sticky resinous substance secreted by flowering buds and under the bark of trees. Our honeybees collect propolis to seal, varnish and, thus, disinfect their honeycombs and insides of their beehives. Ilog MariaBee Propolis possesses antiviral, antibacterial and fungicidal properties. It is even capable of destroying some bacteria & viruses that have now become resistant to modern synthetic antibiotics. Ilog Maria Bee Propolis is effective against infections of the skin, mouth, throat, respiratory and digestive systems. Ilog Maria Bee Propolis stimulates tissue regeneration, antibody formation and strengthens & stimulates the immune system. It is also effective in treating hypertension, arteriosclerosis and coronary disease. Dermatological disorders and rheumatism respond to propolis therapy. Ilog Maria Bee Propolis is a potent anti-oxidant, which combats the ill effects of eating processed and preserved foods. “ (see The Farm – Fresh from the Bee Hive)

  1. the spearmint-oatmeal soap smells so good,

love the pics, rommel and iggy!
my only complaint is that there
are so many of my uncle dodjie.
    hahaha

  2. Hi Anton, my colleagues keep on telling me about Ilog Maria, but I have never been there. There was one time we were in Tagaytay and they were asking the rest if anybody was interested in going with them to Ilog Maria. I chose to go home 😀
But I’ve been using Bee propolis at home. Great stuff. It did have health benefits to my kids.
I’ll include this in my itinerary next time around.
P.S. Have you been to Carlo’s Restaurante?

  4. ….SM robinsons gotesco ever emporium rustan’s rockwell gateway malls & superstores even small grocery chains like tropical huts should at least ‘carry’ some of this good ILOG MARIA products i am surprised why ilog maria did not ‘consider’ showing all these huge malls grocery chains their honey bees & other products coz mass filipinos should enjoy should eperienced should be pamper by their own proud local products….so ilog maria i say take great photos of your products and carry some samples and show them to all names-malls i mentioned let their management executives-staff used free samples for the first few weeks and they tell to contact you just to know if it is favorable great products or what if something else are missing….hopefully aidan’s name brand entrepreneurships will extend to a food department which of course will require an additional staffers an aidan mini store-kiosk can help you introduced ilog maria products ‘globally’ along with all other local but deserving brands-products so ‘speed it up’ aidan lol!….

  5. So I’m a fan of your site and there had been several places that I’ve visited after reading this blog and honestly, most of them were nice until I went to Ilog Maria.
I love Tagaytay and long weekends were the only time we could escape city life and enjoy the country side. I’ve been meaning to visit Ilog Maria for the longest time after reading and hearing good reviews on their products but always forgot or missed the place when were actually in the area. Until last Monday, 01Dec’08.
On our way home, I finally saw their sign by the road. We followed the sign and reached an unfinished stone house. There were four cars at the parking lot so we thought the store was open. And then we saw a lady (I later found out on this blog too that she was the owner’s wife)talking to some customers.
We didn’t enter the store yet to give way to other guests. So we waited by the door and saw some woods stacked beside another entrance. We were curious if these were bee hives so we took a peek only to find out that it’s not. The place has no signs, no one was assisting the customers so we decided to check the other entrance only to be shouted at by an arrogant man standing by the other entrance saying: “EXCUSE ME!!! THAT’S MY HOUSE!!!” His voice was loud, fierce and ill-mannered.
Oh! We were stunned. Did he thought of us as thieves or stalkers if we drove an SUV & wore fine clothes? But then, we apologize since we crossed the line that was supposed to be for authorized personnel but Mr. Magsaysay (whose name I also learned from this blog) ignored us and went inside his house, chin up.
We, then went to the store to buy soaps and creams. This time the previous group left. The wife went inside the mirror-walled house together with her husband, son and daughter. Both of us were left in the store unassisted for about 20-30mins. We literally knocked their walls to assist us for the payment. Their son assisted us this time and we relayed to him what happened.
Do they really want this kind of business? Cause if they do, they suck!!! We don’t care if their tired or it’s their off day but the fact that they opened their store on a Monday/Holiday, they should expect people to arrive and they are responsible to treat their customers right.
Nevertheless, I still love their honey-ginger-kalamansi soap.

  6. I remembered when I bought my first nuc and beehive from Ilog Maria sometime in 1998, Joel was very accomodating and kind to drop me off at the town to catch my bus to Manila on the way for Bicol. Although the strain of bees was quite aggressive, they were so hardworking and prolific. Unfortunately I was not able to taste my first harvest because I left for NZ. But what I appreciated most was Mr Magsaysay’s character to make my trip easy and less stressful. I’d recommend everyone to try beekeeping and buy beekeeping supplies from Ilog Maria. It’s a very nice hobby. (don’t worry about the stings)

  7. ….lol!….to the unsatisfied’tagaytay customer’ also an OAPviewer….scolded by mistake in a way is not a good thing nor inspiring but surely he did not think you guys are thieves or stalkers coz you said owners{family}left you unattended-unassisted inside their store actually they clearly trusted you by the way more than the majority of ‘high ends’ thieves robberies carnappers kidnappers drug dealers other kinds of crime boss DO rides-owned suv crime money made it possible to afford high end luxury items perhaps like SUV’s just to let you know lol!….compare to my other past expreiences as CUSTOMER you guys are better off to make your tagaytay experience a whole lot better let me tell you how bad ridiculous mine was not only i was scolded but the hotel employee was highly suspicious of me lol!….my husband & i have never been never seen any philippines u.s.owned bases ever before so for fun plus curiousity we checked in to their ‘so called’ best hotel i always let my husband do the talking while i roam around i needed to have a good long hot bath coz were dirty sweaty from traveling but my husband beat me to it first meaning he uses the hot bathtub i prepared i was locked out of the bathroom as i hurried behind him so i check outside the room if there’s a sauna o steam room i can use instead of just waiting but too late when i realized i could not open our hotel room meaning i was locked out again so i asked a chambermaid/cleaning lady in the hallway to open our room for me she was hesitant to help me so i was upset i talked to a male employee to open our room door for me but he refused after coz my name was not in the hotel list so i was more upset so he called his manager but manager refused to help me get to my hotel room after no one answered the telephone inside our hotel room i told them that’s bcoz my husband is in the bathtub management asked me for some photo identification card but i can’t coz i was locked out my bag was inside our room so i cannot proved to them that i am my husband’s wife so i asked them to accompany me inside our room so i can show them my passport etc. but they’re still hesitant so i started screaming lol! one employee asked me to calm down he said that normally HOOKERS are not allowed in their hotel premises unless THE-your ‘customer’ gives his signal that you’re his guest lol! i was screaming in disbelief lol but RULE IS RULE in that hotel lol decades later my husband still finds it hilarious so he has this extra ‘little’ stories that he tells people when asked how we met{for fun but still irritates me sometimes lol!} coz he tells them he met me in vietnam after rescuing me from some burning villages lol!….so hopefully this short story of mine{also written in my schoolmate books}will make you feel better lol

  8. Thank for the info sir Diaz. But please tell me where is the store or who is the distributor nearest to Ilocos Norte or Laoag City. Thanks and God bless!

  9. @gmmahoney: Please do us all a huge favor and work on your writing skills. That was one of the worst run-on sentences I’ve ever read. It’s like you just kept typing down this long, continuous stream of thought–which, if you’re going to post in a public online venue, is a thoughtless thing to do. But really, you’re actually doing yourself the bigger disservice, because you come off like an drooling idiot.
