Cinderella Tips – 10 Tips When Watching Cinderella in CCP Main Theater

10 Tips When Watching Cinderella in CCP Main Theater

1. Don’t bring your camera. You would have to deposit your camera with the security guards. You don’t want the hassle of lining up to get it after the show.

2. The show starts on time at 8pm. There is a major construction along Vito Cruz which creates a traffic jam around the CCP area. Target to be in the CCP area around 7pm. There are plenty of parking spaces beside CCP.

3. Mobile phones are allowed. Please turn it off or put it in silent mode. I hate it when a phone rings in the middle of the show.

4. Buy the Souvenir Program. It would cost you P200 for the souvenir program. I also bought the original soundtrack of Lea Salonga’s Cinderella for P550. Buy them during the intermission period. I still regret that I did not buy the Miss Saigon Manila Souvenir Program.

5. If you are watching in Balcony 1 or 2, please bring binoculars. In the balcony section, you can only appreciate the music and see the live orchestra. You can’t see the facial expressions not unless you have binoculars. Also, you won’t be able to see the top portion of the stage.

6. My favorite performances are the Impossible/ It’s Possible and Step Sisters’ Lament. Impossible/ It’s Possible is the last act before the intermission where Godmother turns the pumpkin into a golden carriage, the mouse into horses, and Cinderella into a beautiful princess. Step Sisters’ Lament is the sour graping of Joy and Portia over Cinderella which is the third song after the intermission. Don’t miss it.

7. Sleep before watching it. Some of the love songs can have a lullaby-effect and induce sleep. The plot of the story is of course predictable. Watch it for Lea Salonga, for the lavish costumes, and for the enchanting waltzes and marches.

8. Watch it with your daughter. This is one of the musical plays where you should bring your daughter. It is very inspirational.

9. After the show, eat in Ice Bergs. The nearest hangout place is Harbour View Square besides CCP. You can hangout in Starbucks, Figaro, Dencio’s, Pancake House or Ice Bergs after the show.

10. Don’t miss watching Cinderella. The cheapest ticket is P500 Balcony. I would recommend to watch in the lower area if you can. You can buy the tickets in National Bookstore outlets. Cinderella will play in the Philippines from July 29 to August 24, 2008 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the tour will also play in mainland China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

  1. Last I saw this big a production was ms. saigon and it still gives me goosebumps when I remember it and that overwhelming feeling that makes me so proud of the entire Pinoy cast. =) hmm… maybe I will watch na nga. =)

  2. hi anton,
i was wondering which seat location are u referring to as “loge”… actually, i have already purchased my tickets for this show months ago…but i only bought balcony 1. i have reviewed the seat location map again, and could not see loge….only orchestra, lower box, upper box, patriere box, balcony 1 and balcony 2. which is loge? is the balcony 1 the one that u are referring to that i should bring binoculars? now that you have mentioned that, i am starting to regret why i did not at least buy lower box…i wanted to buy that one but i bought that before with miss saigon, and i did not like the location — it almost got me a stiffed neck…so i opted for the center instead….. oh well….
are the cds not available in the regular cd store? only during the play i can buy them?

  3. Hey Anton,
Wow, my Boss could’ve watched the show until someone blew her plans big time. While reading your blog, para nasasayangan ako. it was an opportunity for her to watch a world class play.

  5. Nice seeing you at the show, Anton!
    Awesome indeed.
Agree with your tip on being on time. The show starts at exactly 8pm. If you arrive after that, they won’t let you in na until 8.19pm (as requested by the cast). So “i guess” the opening performance was pretty solemn.
    Cheers.

  6. sheryl,
    the Cinderella Cast Recording CD
won’t be available in record stores,
at least for the duration of the show’s run,
so you’ll have to buy it at the CCP.
    anton,
    WTF?!??!
they allow cellphones inside the theater?
there will always be at least one IDIOT
who will forget to turn off/silence
    a phone. hay naku….
    nung Ms. Saigon ni Lea,
cellphones were totally banned in the CCP.

  7. Hi!
I’m just about to buy tickets for Cinderella. I was wondering which seat location were you referring to as loge? The only sections I saw were Parterre Box, Orchestra (Deluxe, Center, Side), Lower Box, Upper Box, and Balcony (I & II – Center, Side).
    Thanks so much!

  8. i was priveleged to watch the sneak preview last monday with my daughters, mother, sisters and nieces. we were given the 7k seat and even had cocktails before the show… one more tip i could add is that to make sure to empty your bladder before you settle on your seats… the line would be long in the restroom and the show really starts on time.

  9. hi! i got a chance to watch it last july 29 really enjoyed it. its been awhile since we’ve watched plays.anyway, true it really starts on time so dont be late and use the restroms before entering the theater and another tip please dont bring your kids below 3 years old it says that on the ticket kasi when we watched the kid behind us made tantrums so they were led out of the theater.nakakadistract lang kasi both sa performers and sa audience.solo scene pa naman nung prince.

  10. That woman whose cellphone rang during the show should have been escorted out of the theater and not allowed back inside for the rest of the evening!

  11. hi anton..I saw you and raich during the july 29 show..I was right behind you in the queue going through the metal detector 🙂
I totally agree that people should be conscious of their time..late comers were irritating, especially they were sitted in front! and they were so out of poise, all dressed up, but nangangapa sa dilim!
I also love the scene when fairy godmother transformed the pumpkins, mice, cinderella! it was awesome I kept raving about it for days!!!

  12. hmm…aren’t the stepsisters named portia and joy?
anyway, loved the show…watched it last night, and i still have a hangover 🙂

  13. Just watched Cinderella tonight.
We were seated in the loge area — it’s basically orchestra center. Tickets cost P7,000 each.
Absolutely do NOT be late… EVEN for 5 seconds. The show starts at exactly 8:00 PM! The doors are closed after that. You can only go in after 19 minutes or during the intermission.
A big tip is to use the restrooms before you arrive because the CCP restrooms are jampacked right before the show. When you start hearing music being played outside the theater, that’s already the signal that the show is going to begin in a few minutes.
Overall.. it was okay. Certainly not the best show ever but it was pretty good. I guess the songs weren’t as beautiful or as memorable as those from Ms. Saigon or Les Miserables. Of course the story is much simpler too. Lea is still beautiful and so talented. We Pinoys are so proud of her.
Joan is also right. The stepsisters are named Portia and Joy.

  15. hi anton, if sa lower box ung naka-hang sa wall maganda ba view doon? tickets cost 1200 there, wil very much apreciate your reply, thanks 🙂 –kate

  16. One thing this performance shows is that there are still Filipinos who have money to spend on high class leisure and enjoy themselves.
As for cellphones since it’s hard to get people to leave them home they should use jammers this way no problem of phones going off during the show.
    Enjoy.

  17. hay naku! they didn’t have any souveneir programs last night so I wasn’t able to get 1.
Nakakainis ang ending, ha. I mean, after the scene where the step family were trying on the shoes and then they couldn’t find Cinderella, the next time you see them was celebrating Cinderella’s wedding. Wala yung shock of discovering that the mysterious princess was Cinderella and/or walang consequence against the stepfamily for the pain they inflicted on her.

  18. Hi, all your posts are so helpful….thanks!! due to last minute plans, we are travelling from mindanao just to see this show on Sunday. Tonight, i got the plane tickets (thanks to Cebu Pacific’s treats) and also got thru ticketworld online 2 orchestra center tickets at 4K each for me and my 9 year old daughter. After all my excitement on booking for this weekend’s show, I just realized how I could possibly let my daughter view the show without straining her head (moreso, if a tall guy would be seated in front of her)..geez…any advise? (was thinking of bringing one hollow block as a “riser”….ha! ha!

  19. Hello everyone. I was just reading all you comments and couldn’t help to say something. I am Portia in the show and I am very glad you are all enjoying it. We are touring HK and Singapore. If you go to http://www.cinderellaonstage.com you will find a list of all our cities we will be in. See you at the show!
