Mamma Mia in Manila! 2009?

A Petition to bring the Smash Hit Musical Mamma Mia to Manila!
Mamma Mia

I just watched the movie Mamma Mia and enjoyed it, because of the songs and the wacky adaptation of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia on screen. Most of the Filipinos watching in the movie theaters were singing along the ABBA songs and having a great time. All of the people leaving the cinemas had a Last Song Syndrome of either Mamma Mia or Dancing Queen. Mamma Mia is a certified hit in Manila!

I watched the Mamma Mia musical live in Las Vegas in 2003. The live performance is 10x better than the movie. Just imagine bringing the live Broadway show Mamma Mia to Manila. This is the kind of show that would attract more Filipinos to watch and appreciate Broadway shows. Mamma Mia in Manila would be the greatest show ever played, in the tradition of Miss Saigon and Rent.

Why would Mamma Mia in Manila will be such a hit?

- We have so much talent here who can sing, dance and act as part of the cast of Mamma Mia Live.

- The sets of Mamma Mia are simple. We can even be more creative with the set.

- Manila has proven that it can successfully stage Rent, Miss Saigon, Avenue Q, and West Side Story.

- Filipinos love ABBA and any karaoke session is not complete without singing and gyrating to the song Dancing Queen.

- The target market of Broadway musical shows belong to the ABBA generation.

I do hope that Audie Gemora or Bobby Garcia will be able to get the rights for this show. I can't wait to see Mamma Mia in Manila.

I watched one theater company stage scenes from Mamma Mia in... 2006? Greenbelt 3 outdoor stage. It was pretty long, like more than an hour.

i'm all for musicals and plays! i love 'em and prefer 'em over movies any day!

I also love musical and play! I had the chance to watch the International Touring Group (happens to be British so they had British accent)of Mama Mia in Qatar. It was superb...
