Samsung Camera is Now My Official Blogging Camera

Samsung is now my blogging camera-7
(of course, this was taken from my canon 20d, :)

Samsung Camera is now my official blogging camera. I must confess that I'm a loyal Canon user so it breaks my heart to admit that Samsung is better. My first digital camera is the Canon 20D Digital SLR with 17-40mm L Lens. This is still my primary travel camera. I have a backup Canon Ixus that my wife uses occasionally but I'm not satisfied with the quality of its photos. I hardly use the photos produced by the Canon Ixus in my blog. It is hard for me to say this but I'm now replacing my Canon Ixus with the Samsung S760 Digital Camera. The Samsung S760 was included for FREE in our Batanes Travel Photography workshop and I was amazed by the quality of its shots. The photos are already very good and I can use it for OAP.

Check out the photos taken from Samsung S760 below. You can even check out the EXIF data of the photos to verify that it is indeed taken from the Samsung. Imagine this is only the entry-level camera of Samsung. I am dreaming of getting the high end line to use as my blogging camera.

Rakuh a Payaman Samsung Shot. A lot of people love this shot and this was in fact taken by my Samsung Camera. Galing no?

Sabtang Island Samsung Shot. I like the inherent color saturation of the Samsung Camera.

We survived the Batan -- Sabtang boat trip. I used the Samsung camera throughout the boat trip.

Ms. Marj David, Master Photographer George Tapan, Banker Paul San Pedro, House Mate Obet Laderas and Anton of OAP during the Sabtang Boat Trip. I like the face recognition technology of the Samsung which ensures that the faces of the people are in focus.

All my Canon Batteries were dead during this sunset shot in the Batanes Pier. I have to use my Samsung Camera to capture this shot.

I love my Samsung S760! I originally was planning to sell it but I'm keeping it as my backup blogging camera or use it when I will run a marathon. I have to live with its weaknesses though which are: (a) it consumes the life of the 2 x AA batteries fast (within 24-48 hours at most) and (b) you can only get an 8x10 photo out of it (I have to test it yet).

Notice that Batanes boats are different from the boats you find elsewhere in the philippines... they are wider with no outriggers. The stone houses and the windswept landscape look like they came straight from 19th century Ireland...

Actually, that's one of the things I liked about my old Canon A70. If the batteries run out, I can just buy a pair from the sari-sari store. But when my Ixus runs out of power... aguy. No more photo ops for me!

Nice shots from your samsung camera. We've always had SONY and I thought SONY gives better photo. We also have Nikon D70s but your photos look much better!

Hi Anton, two questions: would you bring a 9 year-old to Batanes? Had a friend say that I should, before it gets "spoiled" (although he doesn't have a kid ...) How close can you get to your subject using your Samsung S760?

Much thanks as always,
Cherrie

really nice pics for a point and shoot cam.

I have the S630 model and I'm very happy with its picture/video quality given its price ($69.99 - $90.00). Also, Anton, you might want to grab a pair of quick-charging (15 mins) 2700 mAh batteries (available in SM Appliance or Automatic Centre branches) for longer life.

Am a Canon baby since then but mind you your shots now are better and clearer with your Samsung camera. Am thinking of buying a new one and this really helped me decide to try Samsung. However, my concern, are there many Samsung service centers just in case there is trouble. We used to buy appliances and electronics abroad but the problem is that most repair centers here doesnt know about it or either the pieces needed for repair arent available.

Yes! Ang galing nga ng Samsung!

Bakit wala niyan dito sa Circuit City? Mura po kasi mamili dito sa US ng mga ganyan.

Atsaka, panong kasama siya sa photography workshop? Sana makasama din ako :)

UPDATE: I tried Samsung during low light situations without a flash, and it performed poorly. The canon IXUS I used was a lot better in low light situation.

talaga? Samsung is better? hmm.. how much does it cost? I'm thinking kasi of buying Canon S5IS

Posted by: Pink | Apr 4, 2008 12:38:17 PM

Did you try it for video?

Posted by: Aileen Apolo | Apr 5, 2008 11:41:41 AM

Yes, I tried the video and it is not usable for you tube because it is grainy and audio is bad.... The Samsung is very good for bright light situations and the resulting photo can be used online.

Wow grabe as in WOW! ang ganda naman -- ang dami pa talagang undiscovered places sa Philippines. thanks for putting up this blog and sharing the photos to us.. it's quite an eye opener for me! this makes me more excited to explore our country when I come back this year.
