Red Mango-licious

Thanks to OAP friends for introducing us to Red Mango! I was curious about the so-called Fro-Yo wars. So, we drove all the way to Westwood in LA to find out what the fuss is all about.

The tagline of Red Mango is authentic Frozen Yogurt. Indeed, you can taste the yogurt’s tartiness and this is exactly the taste of Cold Spoon’s frozen yogurt we tasted in Pampanga, Philippines. What makes Red Mango unique is their focus on making their froyo healthy. It is packed with live and active cultures and they have healthy options in terms of toppings — Mandarin Orange packed with Vitamin C and they don’t serve Oreo cookies. Our favorite toppings are the mochi and small bits of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate — both of which are not available in Pink Berry.

Red Mango cost the same as Pink Berry’s yogurt. $2.50 for the small original yogurt and $3.50 for the green tea. One topping costs $1 and 3 toppings cost $1.50.

Thanks to Brobo Lorenz and wife, Carmina for the Westwood Food Trip!

The Verdict: I love Red Mango because of its yogurt taste and benefits vs the creamy deliciousness of Pink Berry. My brother and Mina still love Pink Berry.

  1. I have yet to try red mango! I should go there sometime, so far I’ve only been to Pinkberry and I love their frozen yogurt!

  2. Hi, there’s a Red Mango store open at Trinoma already. You can find their store/stand right in front of Fitness First.
We were told that they’re also opening a store in Eastwood and Megamall, which I’ve already told you about in my comment above. =)

  3. Im going to have to disagree on the health benefits of frozen yogurt. Bacteria good or bad can only live within a certain range, once the temperature goes below 10 degrees celsius which it does when creating frozen yogurt, the machine has to be at around 0 degrees to create the frozen yogurt, it kills all the good bacteria and hence all of its health benefits. In the end its just like eating sour ice cream.

  4. This is my least favorite among all options now. The toppings are just too little for the price. It’s too “icy” in the 2 times that I tried (Plain and Green Tea). No one doesn’t even want to touch the Green Tea after first bite. 🙁

  5. I looooove Red Mango! If you want a sweet treat: Try this: FroYo + Chocolate Chips + Choco Powder + Almonds… YUM! Or, Mango + Kiwi + Almonds
