How much would you pay to enjoy the longest ice slide in Asia?
How much would you pay to experience real snow @ -15 degrees in the tropical paradise of Manila?
For P160/ person, you can experience the Snow World at Star City, CCP Complex. I had my doubts about entering the Snow World but it was the real thing — real snow, real ice sculpture and real ice slide!
Snow World Manila features the Ice carvings of World Ice Sculpture Arts Champion Frankie Lee together with Jeffrey Ng at Theo Ghee of Singapore. (This was in the press release but I can’t seem to find their names in the World Ice Art Championships’ winners) “The World Ice Art Championships is an ice sculpting contest in Fairbanks, Alaska put on by Ice Alaska every May. The contest is the largest of its kind in the world and attended by more than 100 sculptors from 30 different countries every year.” (wikipedia).
Winter Wonderland Entertainment partnered with Star City to bring the Snow World from Indonesia to Manila. They made it bigger and created a longer ice slide of about 68 meters long. The slide is not recommended for kids because they might be off balance and hit their head on the ice.
The entire place was -15 degrees celcius and water turns into snow with this temperature. In fact, I only lasted for 10 minutes inside Snow World and I was already freezing even my camera and tripod. I don’t know if my SLR can withstand the negative cold temperature. After I exiting, the ice formed on the camera started to melt and I was constantly wiping the water off the SLR.

After the ice sculpture, you would enter a tunnel going to the main attraction of the Snow World.
This is the best place to take a picture of your kid, beside the Christmas Tree. If you decide to bring your kid, skip the ice sculptures and go to the Christmas Tree immediately for picture taking.

LOL…Aidan’s snow apparel is good for 5 more years. The slide looks like solid block of ice…that would hurt a lot…don’t they powder it down with a snow from a snow making machine? Happy thanksgiving!

…..lol!….looks so much fun….aidan reminds me of how i LOOK first time i MUST learned how to ski in europe{just gave birth months earlier}….my sister’s ski outfit is twice my size….my eyes wide open-got bigger and was rolling in circles i was bewildered amazed how structures are made of ice like this snow world and not far are skiers who woke my ignoramus on how possible fast-firmed people walk play stand on slippery cold ice-snow{i fell in the ground 16 times that day]lol!….i did not do so bad on my first try but i was not comfortable when 3-5 years old toddlers was passing me left and right in a hill along with their good looking male families who has grins in their faces lol!….

I never tried a snow slide even when am able to see one in a trip to snow-laden place. Lakas kase ng hangin nung time na yun. Pero baka with this one, I will try na. -15 is better than -30+ than I am on that time! 🙂

Hi Anton! We went here a few weeks ago, and we didn’t last that long either. It was too cold. Too bad we didn’t have any photos taken inside.
….it can be psychological besides clothing needs….best time to go to severe cold weather is after going to the gym or sports actitivities….when i was doing snow slides-skiing{europe}i learned i can do it with just my summer clothes tops but that’s because i had to run after my nephew-nieces{was baby sitting}who followed after james bond{roger moore}my niece-nephew who thought roger moore was their dad lol!….my sister’s family winter vacation chalet in gstaad is just below the hills where neighbor elizabeth taylor-richard burton are frequented by celebrities but not a big deal to-for us since we all want privacies celebrities or not….i must learned ice life-world kasi only those who needs to play in ice are welcome pag winter kasi yung mga kwarto o tulugan ay limited kaya napasubo ako lol!….dyan sa pilipinas ice world you must wear ‘bonnet’at kahit anung ‘scarfs’to cover your head at leeg mas maige kasi para maiwasan ang initial cold-chill effects o minsan shock ng lamig….

awww it’s hard when one is used to 30 degree weather. i wish we had things like this when i was a child in manila. aidan is lucky to have all this opportunity and such loving parents who are adventurous and generous to take him to such experiences.

sindali lang kami sa loob kasi, wala kaming gloves at mask, parang nagfrifreeze yung kamay namin, and ang hirap huminga.. hehe, tapos pag uwi namin, grabe, pagod, at pagkatulog, ha! napanaginipan ko and snow world, naghahagisan parin daw kami ng snow balls..

hi. 2008 snow world is also beautiful. 🙂 nice ice sculptures talaga. 1st time namin ng family ko pero we really dared ourselves kung hanggang ilang minutes namin kaya. we entered snow world twice. first we did 45 mins then the 2nd is 50 mins. we almost got frostbitten 😀 haha. pero grabe, record yun! 🙂

One staff rudely told us not to take pictures! Why is not allowed to take pictures inside? (if he was nice and told us the reason,it could have been ok but he was totally rude and just said no) We were stunned by the plain and unprofessional answer. It ruined our mood. I will not go back and will not recommend this place.

is it true that taking pictures are not allowed inside the Dino and Snow world???? Our friends told us that only the crew/staff can take picture and pay P100.00/pix…. if it is true WHY having a lot of souvenir/pictures is one of our happiness if we go there…. WHY not allowed….
For clarrification:Entrance fee P60.00 + P160.00 Dino and 160.00 for Snow world, so we can choose wherever we want to go, don’t need to get packages or ride all…

Yes, you cannot take pictures inside. they will provide the jacket.
Hello anton, so glad with your infos on star city’s snow world! I’ve been searching for star city’s website but i kept being routed to trip advisor and it’s not much help. We’re planning to go this weekend but i’ve been told that I might not be allowed to bring my 2 year old daughter to snow world. Do u know if there’s a minimum age limit to children? Thanks 😀

it would be great if the Star City management gives info about opening time and fees online – but none exists! also, when we went to Snow City last week, there was no info on what to expect,e.g. how many layers of the jacket they provided would be enough – the thin jacket that they provided was certainly not enough. So it was a surprise (did not know they would let us do that) to read here that somebody put on four layers of that jacket. They opened at 4pm on the weekday that we visited – very strange for a theme park, but I suppose it would not be profitable enough if they open in the day? but slack management can be seen everywhere. We bought tickets for snow city and the dinosaur land, and staff at the snow city gate torn the wrong tickets, so somebody stopped us outside snow city and asked to change back the tickets. Since we could not find one of the stubs that they torn, there was a bit of hassle. I also wish they explain the pricing better outside. You cannot buy tickets for individual rides even inside, they only sell ride-all-u-can (P300) or three rides only (P250). We did not buy the ride all you can or the three rides because we did not know how many rides would be suitable for our toddler. You can only find out by spending quite a lot of time wandering inside, but by that time, you do not have time to do enough rides to justify any ticket.
